Valley Care Gets it Start

While knocking on doors for a survey in downtown Waterbury apartment buildings, NVP leaders discovered that many elderly people were living alone without assistance.  They saw an opportunity to create jobs by meeting a local need.  The result was the ValleyCare cooperative.

"I think what attracted people was our willingness to work with them to give them full time hours.  Many of them were working at other agencies who said they would give them full time hours and they never delivered.  And some of them came here and we were able to do that, actually for quite a few of them, and that made a real difference."
