Banded Together - The Naugatuck Valley Project Story

Elizabeth Rosa

Recognizing the growing number of Hispanics/Latinos in the Naugatuck Valley, the NVP hired Elizabeth Rosa, its first Latina organizer.  With deep roots in the Hispanic community, Elizabeth Rosa trained dozens of bi-lingual interpreters who then held 20 house meetings with over 200 people to find out the concerns of Latinas and Latinos in the lower Valley.  As a result of her efforts, the NVP now has many Latino congregations in its membership and many active Latino participants – enough so that now its publications and conventions often involve Spanish translation.
